CCW 17RT2038The social events at Cowes Classics Week are an integral part of the week, much enjoyed by competitors, who are able to spend quality time in the company of like-minded sailors and classic boat enthusiasts. The full programe can be found further down this page.

Covid

The Royal London Yacht Club welcomes all competitors and regatta guests to Cowes Classics Week 2021. We want you all to have a great week of sailing, but in light of the ongoing Covid restrictions, please read this guidance and share it with your crew and anyone else in your party.

  • The RLYC Clubhouse has a limited capacity and the Club reserves the right to refuse entry to the premises if it is considered that capacity has been reached.
  • The Club reserves the right to cancel or amend either the sailing or social programme at short notice.
  • Do not enter the Clubhouse if you have a temperature or are feeling unwell.
  • Please use hand sanitizer when you enter the Clubhouse.
  • Scan your QR code with the NHS COVID-19 app at the front door or provide your name and contact details.
  • Comply with any reasonable requests of Security, Flag Officers or members of the CCW Committee.
  • Wear face coverings in the Clubhouse and only remove them when seated.
  • Socialise in groups of no more than six in the Clubhouse or groups of thirty when outside.
  • Observe the one way system in the hallway and stairs. Please climb the stairs on the port side and use the starboard side coming down, all whilst maintaining social distancing.
  • Loos and the showers have a ”one in one out” system.
  • No vertical drinking is allowed and no standing at the Bar either in the Drawing room or the London room. Find a table of no more than six. Each table is equipped with a pager. Press the button to call the Steward.
  • The Regatta Office operates a “one way system”. Please use it.
  • For specific events in the Clubhouse separate guidance may be issued.
  • Above all, please be respectful of staff, other competitors and bear with us. We are doing our level best, but need your help and co-operation in order to run a successful and Covid compliant regatta.

Tea & Cake

Competitors can again enjoy MDL Marinas Tea & Cakes after racing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. These refreshments are served at the Royal London, when the bar is also open.

Free Prize Giving Receptions

Regatta entries include a number of tickets to the following receptions (competitors are issued with wrist bands which are effectively your entry ticket to these events). We are deeply indebted to our sponsors who make it possible for us to lay on these free receptions including the MDL Marinas Tea & Cakes.

Early booking discount, Refunds and Exchanges

A discount of 10% will be available on all social events booked before midnight on Friday 2 July 2021, so it makes sense to arrange your aprés racing well in advance, especially as most events have a strictly enforced maximum capacity and are regularly sold-out.

After midnight on Friday 2 July 2021, the social ticket sales and enquiries will move offline from the website to the RLYC office, but there will be only limited availability to book events during the regatta.

Please note that we shall not directly make refunds on social tickets purchased but no longer required, but will set up an exchange system for competitors during the regatta.

Please note that online booking will not work when using a mobile devicesuch as a smart phone. There is a system upgrade due before the 2022 regatta which will fix this shortcoming, but for now please use your desktop/laptop PC or Apple Mac.

Dress Code

We have indicated the appropriate dress code for the various events listed below with the following interpretations;

  • Reefer - Jacket and tie for gentlemen; appropriate formal wear for ladies.
  • Smart casual - Tailored trousers and shirts (no shorts, jeans or T-shirts).
  • Open - Courteous open choice which includes dry sailing rig (but no wet clothing please).

Social & Event Programme Overview for 2021

Due to ongoing Covid restrictions there are some changes to the planned social events.

We shall endeavour to ensure that the following Social Programme Overview reflects the current position.
