On Sunday 26 June 2022, Classic Car owners from both the Isle of Wight and the mainland will be polishing up their beauties and displaying them on The Parade in the heart of Cowes. They’ll overlook the harbour where an interesting selection of historic motor vessels will also be on display.
Visiting this automotive and maritime showcase is free of charge.
- 50 classic cars and buses on display
- Various interesting and historic motor vessels
- Major Mick to arrive in Cowes aboard “Tintanic”
Cowes Classics Day is a day to celebrate the past with classic cars, yachts and motor boats on display for all to enjoy.
The event is set on and around The Parade, in front of the royal yacht clubs in Cowes, Isle of Wight, the historical home of yachting in the UK. Visitors will be able to see dozens of classic cars and buses together with some interesting and historic boats, both sailing boats and motor boats. These include:
- “Miss Daisy”, a past round-Britain powerboat
- “Lilian”, a gentleman’s motor yacht (photo left)
- “Alberta”, an 1885 East Coast sailing smack (photo in the showcase below)
Britain’s famous and patriotic charity fundraiser Major Mick Stanley plans to arrive in Cowes during Cowes Classics Day. Although his rowing boat “Tintanic” is by no means a classic, its home-made construction using sheets of corrugated iron makes it truly eccentric. Major Mick Stanley hopes to row “Tintanic” down the Medina River, arriving in Cowes while the Classics Day display is in full swing.
Visitors to Cowes Classics Day will also be able to enjoy the speciality ice creams, fudges, cakes and coffees available from the various artisan shops around The Parade.
